Glossopdale Action for Allotments (GAFA) manages three allotment sites in Glossop; Dinting Lane, Gamesley and St Mary’s Road.

GAFA also manages a Community Orchard at Manor Park and the Curley Cornet Community Garden in central Glossop.

Originally  set up as an activist group in July 2008 to address the large shortfall in local allotments its activities and evidence persuaded High Peak Borough Council to increase its allotment stock.

GAFA has opted to self-manage allotments on behalf of High Peak Borough Council and in April 2012, it opened its first new site at St Mary’s Road, Glossop with nine allotments and a plot-sharing scheme allowing about 25 people to share these plots.

This was followed in 2016 by the opening of two larger sites, one at Dinting Lane (98 plots) and another at Melandra Castle Road, Gamesley (30 plots).

GAFA keeps a single waiting list for all sites that it manages.  This allows members to choose a suitably located allotment when vacancies arise.  See the FAQs on “How do I apply for an allotment through GAFA?” for more information.
